The Birds
Our band is a Folk Trio consisting of a Concertina,Fiddle and Guitar. We nest in Utah County but we'll go anywhere the music takes us! We love playing all kinds of folk but we'll always hav a soft spot in our hearts for Irish Trad! Our sound has been described as Irish Trad meets Americana, with a little bit of western flair sprinkled on top.
Our history
We started as a simple Fiddle and Concertina Duo but our group quickly grew once we met our guitarist and discovered that he shared our drive and passion for folk music. We started playing some simple small gigs and have been growing from there. Now, we're working on our summer schedule and growing our setlist.
Our sound
As a folk band, there are so many directions We love the warmth and intimacy of acoustic music, as well as the excitement that comes from getting a crowd up on their feet. Our repertoire ranges from jigs and reels older than your great great grandpa to music you'd hear in a game released last year

Marissa Giles
Marissa Giles is our Concertina player extraordinaire. Although she started her musical journey as a bas player, this Utah native turned to the much more difficult concertina after hearing the legendary Scottish concertina player Moshen Amino play.

Brock Pate, our guitarist and vocalist, is a North Carolina native who came to Utah by way of BYU. He's the heart of the band, both in keeping rhythm and in keeping us always smiling!

Clyde Ellis
Clyde Ellis comes from Arizona and has been fiddling since he was five. His love of all types of music has led him to study bluegrass, jazz, Americana and classical, but it was Irish music that really won his heart.
